We know it can be hard to find the resources for your credit union to participate and invest in financial education, but did you know that many states and associations have grants specifically for this purpose?

This is FREE MONEY, that is allocated to great causes but unfortunately often times go unused.

Our newest customer, Washtenaw Federal Credit Union in Michigan was given a grant from a foundation to pay for their new youth program and it covers all three years of their program, which utilizes Member Jr.

Through a quick Google search we also saw that an application is open for the financial education grant program in Minnesota, and several other states have grants as well. We have provided a few of the links below.

This money is there for your credit union fund the activities you want to do to help your communities.

You could use the money to:

  • Establish an in-school branch
  • Host seminars on FinEd topics like credit, budgeting and retirement
  • Teach FinEd in local schools
  • Partner with a community organization who teaches FinEd
  • Supply local schools with financial education curriculum

Contact your credit union group today to see if they still have dollars that need to be claimed in 2016, and let us know how we can help!
